Who We Are

What is the PRI Makers Network?

PRI Makers Network is an association of grantmakers that use program-related and other investments to accomplish their philanthropic goals. We provide a forum for networking, professional development, collaboration and outreach to funders, including those not currently making PRIs or other social investments. Through our activities, we seek to strengthen the capacity of grantmakers to effect change across diverse program areas. In 2008, PRI Makers Network relocated from Neighborhood Funders Group (Washington, DC) to Philanthropy Northwest (PNW), a regional association of grantmakers based in Seattle, Washington. Philanthropy Northwest has a thirty-year history in promoting innovation and providing support to philanthropy, and has a particular interest to develop program-related investment capacity in foundations. About the Transition.

PRI Makers Network Members come from more than 90 foundations of all sizes from every region of the country, with a wide range of programmatic goals.

Members pay dues based on their level of annual PRI activity. See Membership Eligibility Guidelines.

Professional Development

PRI Makers Network facilitates a variety of highly-rated workshops and discussions, ranging from one-day briefings to "grantmakers only" sessions at regional and national affinity group conferences.

PRI Makers Network offers the PRI Institute Agenda and Registration Materials for an intensive, 2.5 day treatment of the topic for Network members. The first half day of the Institute will be presented as PRI Fundamentals for Grantmakers, an in-depth introduction to PRIs for executives, trustees and staff of PRI Makers Network members.

The third PRI Makers Network national PRI Conference will be held in 2010. More than 250 funders are likely to participate; details forthcoming.

PRI Activity Database

PRI Makers Network, in partnership with The Foundation Center and the Foundation Strategy Group, has developed a comprehensive PRI Activity Database. It contains more than 1,600 transactions used exclusively by our Members to learn about effective deal-making and possible collaboration between investors. UPDATE your listing now or add your foundation's investment transactions for the first time. Help us create a database useful for deal sourcing, research, field trends and best practices!

Information Sharing

PRI Makers Network provides a forum for Members to share publications, research, and document templates. Through e-discussions, members talk to each other confidentially and with ease about the nature of deals, quality investments, challenges and other issues germane to PRI-making. See the new Deals Clearinghouse.

Networking

PRI Makers Network provides a unique opportunity for Members to seek out others interested in program-related investing and to connect with them individually on a confidential and professional basis.

Please note that PRI Makers Network is not a grantmaking or lending organization. If you are seeking grants, we recommend looking to the Foundation Center or GuideStar.
